Malaysian Bioeconomy Development Corporation Sdn Bhd (Bioeconomy Corporation) is the leading economic development agency for the biotechnology and bio-based industries in Malaysia, under the purview of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation. Bioeconomy Corporation provides support, facilitation, and advisory services to nurture an enabling ecosystem of business, academic, and scientific communities that drives the biotechnology and bio-based industries in Malaysia. Bioeconomy Corporation has two main investment programs called BioNexus Status and Bio-based Accelerator (BBA).

The BioNexus Status is a special status awarded to qualified companies undertaking biotechnology activities. BioNexus Status companies are eligible for 100% tax exemption for 10 years, funding, and other guarantees to increase their growth, including investment facilitation and advisory services.

The Bio-based Accelerator (BBA) program helps bio-based start-ups, micro businesses, and large companies in infusing science, technology, automation, and strategic investment into their business operations. The program also identifies and provides facilitation to overcome gaps in skills, technology adoption, financial resources, regulatory compliance, and product marketability. This empowers bio-based companies in the agriculture, industrial, and healthcare sectors to ascend the value chain progressively, enhancing efficiency and competitiveness.
